2-cycle Oil

Postby larrwill on Mon May 19, 2008 7:47 am

Now that my Brison engine seems to be running ok, I'm thinking ahead to my next mix of 2-cycle fuel. Currently I'm using 50 to 1 non-synthetic 2-cycle oil, as recommended in the manual for the initial gallon, after that they recommend a synthetic oil. Where can I get synthetic 2-cycle oil and what brand (the manual mentions Amsoil or Klotz)? The local lawn mower shop thought I was nuts and said it would be a special order.

I use the Amzoil in my DA50@50:1. I got it right down the street from the Napa Auto Parts store.. Think it was like 10 bucks a quart? There's another brand guys seem to like. It's Penzoil for Air cooled motors. That I cant seem to find though.

Hey Larry,I got a wrap around Pitts style Muffler for your motor,if you want to borrow it and see how your motor performs with it.. You might even be able to mount it right at the field. There should be enough cutout for it in your cowl..
Let me know..

Thanks, I never thought to check an auto parts store. Is there a particular type name of the Amzoil?
The Brison manual states it can go up to 100:1 mix with synthetic, I was thinking about using 80:1.

I'll give the Pitts muffler a try, maybe it will quiet things down a little, thanks.
I think I will need a little tuning help too. The engine was lagging slightly on throttle up while in the air.

Ya know I cant recall what the exact name it is.. If you want I can get it for you and give it to you at the field. You goin to the picnic on Sunday, bringing the wife and kiddies?

Me and dad are goin flying Tuesday night,I ll look at the bottle of Amzoil to see what its called.. My Da says I can go 100:1 but it scares me for some reason.

I checked out the Amsoil web site. Here is what they have.
I'm going to see if I can find the 100:1.
