Gas engines under 50cc

Postby larrwill on Tue Apr 21, 2009 6:30 pm

So now that Brillelli is out of business what is a good choice for gas engines in the under 50cc class that have EI?

Brillelli is still around and making a few motors.

Brison engines http://www.rc-revolution.com/brisonenginec.htm

www.troybuiltmodels.com carries a few motors,as well as,

Thanks. After a quick look there doesn't seem to be much of a cost saving going under 50cc. I was looking at the AeroWorks 35cc Extra for easier transport and figured less cost too but I guess not much less.

In reality, you could use the 50cc in a 46cc plane. It's really not much different. My Extreme Flight 74" span Yak is using the Brillelli 46gt,so you should be able to put a 50cc in their 78"span plane.. Hanger 9 lets you put a 50cc in their 78"Extra 260. Lafe has that same plane, but with a Brillelli 46gt. I have the DA 50 in my 88" Yak and it has crazy power. You can look at www.extremeflightrc.com and see the combo deals they have on their planes. I think my Yak with the motor, and servos is about $1500?

The Aeroworks planes are nice and people seem to like them, and they go together pretty quick. Wild Hare makes a few nice ones too,but I think the Aeroworks are better..

I can transport my 88"WS Yak in my Cherokee. The Elev.stabs come off,so that makes it very convenient.

Removing the stabs would help. It looks like the EF Yak has the servos in the stab which makes removal more practical, the AW has a removable stab but the servos are in the fuse and you have to disconnect the linkage. I would not want to mess with the linkage every time I fly.

Yup they stayed hooked up,just disconnect the servos wires, two screws each side and they slide right off the Carbon Fiber tube.. Their coming out with a new scheme,Russian Thunder for the Yak,it's awesome looking. The other thing I like about the Extreme Flight Yak is the scale looks of the fuse. The AW is flat on the sides instead of being round and fat.. The EF Yak also looks more like a 100cc plane, next to the AW,the EF dwarfs it..

The AW planes are supposed to be great flyers also,I just have never flown one.. Go Extreme Flight,it's the best who am I kidding... :lol:Image

Yea, although that picture you posted above looks pretty cool to. Aren't they doing an Edge also? I couldn't find any mention of it on their web site.

It's not released yet and I don't know exactly when its coming. I know the 110" Yaks in the Russian Thunder scheme is coming in May,maybe the Edge will be also..
Here I think I got a picture... Ones not that great though, but you get the idea..
